It’s one of the biggest music festivals in the country… And this year, one of the biggest hip-hop artists to ever come out of Louisville is hitting the stage for the second time.
Jack Harlow is slated to perform at the opening night of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival this summer in Manchester, TN. This will be the second Bonnaroo appearance for the Highlands native, who also did a set in 2017.
Harlow recently wrapped up his Loose Tour with two sold out shows at the Mercury Ballroom. His label manager (Generation Now/Atlantic Records) and world-renowned deejay, DJ Drama, surprised the crowd with a special guest appearance at the December 29 show.
The Mercury shows, as well as several others early in the tour, featured Bblasian, another hip-hop artist from Louisville, who’s been creating quite a buzz, especially in the teenage demographic. Harlow and Bblasian released their first collaborative record, Green Bubble, leading up to the homecoming shows.
Jack Harlow’s Sundown video, which was shot in Louisville last summer, has gained more than a million views on Youtube. And his latest project, Gazebo, took Album of the Year at the 2018 Kentucky Urban Entertainment Awards.
Bonnaroo kicks of June 13 with special guests from the Grand Ole Opry and a slew of other acts. Headliners for the weekend include major names like Phish, Childish Gambino, Post Malone, Odesza, The Lumineers and Cardi B.
Louisville’s Jim James, of My Morning Jacket, is on the festival’s Saturday lineup. James is no stranger to Bonnaroo – he has graced its stage several times, as a solo artist and with MMJ. In an editorial last year, The Tennessean listed the band’s 2008 performance as one of the greatest Bonnaroo sets of all time.
Tickets for Bonnaroo go on sale Thursday, January 10. Click here for more information and the complete festival lineup.
