Looking for a pint from an authentic pub? You don’t need to fly to London, just drive across the river to New Albany, Indiana.
The owners of the new, traditional U.K. inspired pub Pints&Union are hoping their bar will provide the kind of funk and culture you’d see at a pub in the United Kingdom.
Inside Tuesday, crews were working to get everything ready for opening night — testing taps and installing equipment. In the bar, you won’t find a TV, but you will find an eclectic decor meant to stir conversation.
The owners of Pints&Union have been working for more than a year to transform this historic building, built in the 1800s, into the new bar. The project is one many people in the community are excited about.
“It doesn’t feel real. It’s amazing,” Joe Phillips, Owner of Pints&Union, said. “I can’t even really articulate what if feels like to engage with our followers and hope we can give them our gifts with my amazing staff. It’s unreal.”
Pints&Union opens to the public Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. The rest of the week it opens at 4 p.m. The bar is located at 114 East Market in New Albany.
