Whiskey Row’s newest bar opens November 7

Bringing Whiskey Row back to its roots — George’s Bar will open at the Old Forester Distillery on Nov. 7.

George’s Bar is named for Brown-Forman and Old Forester founder George Garvin Brown.

“This is actually the very office that he worked out of from 1882 until 1919,” explained Erik Brown, Homeplace Manager for the Old Forester Distillery.

The bar caps off the Old Forester tour experience.

Guests can order a bourbon neat, on the rocks or a specialty cocktail. Signature cocktails include The Perfect Old Fashioned and GGB Punch.

George’s Bar is the last element of the Old Forester Distillery to open to the public. The distillery cost $40 million to build and construction took three and a half years. Tours began in June.

“This is it. This is the final piece of the puzzle,” Brown said. “All we need now is people to share our craft cocktails with.”

The bar will mostly cater to Old Forester tour guests. But Brown-Forman is also hoping to attract crowds from games, concerts and other events at the nearby KFC Yum! Center by offering extended hours.

Normal hours for George’s Bar at 119 W Main Street will be Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
