171st St. Joe’s Picnic goes virtual

The 171st St. Joe’s Picnic is going virtual because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The yearly event raises money to support St. Joseph’s Children’s Home.

The virtual event take place Aug. 7 to Aug. 8 and will include online raffle items and merchandise sales.

“The decision to go virtual was made with a lot of thought and care. The health and safety of our kids and staff are our top priority every day. When you take into consideration the large crowd size that gathers on St. Joe’s front lawn, as well as that many of our beloved volunteers and picnic attendees are in the high-risk category for contracting COVID-19, we know we have made the safest decision for our kids, staff and community. We are hopeful the community of picnic goers will step up to help us again this year by joining us in our new, virtual Picnic adventure,” St. Joe’s CEO Grace Akers said.
