Capacity restrictions will be lifted in Kentucky in just a few days, including at Lynn Family Stadium. At the next LouCity FC soccer match on June 12, all fans will be allowed inside the stadium for the first time since its construction.

Lynn Family Stadium opened up to 75% capacity for the match on May 29.

An estimated 15,304 people can fit in the stadium, though only 13,600 seats are ticketed and the rest of the space is standing room only.

Mitch Ried, the senior vice president of sales and marketing at the Lynn Family Stadium, said organizing for a full-capacity game is a surreal experience for not only superfans but also the staff behind the scenes. This moment has been a long time coming, he said.

“’When will it happen?’ We didn’t know,” Ried said. “Things have taken a positive turn with vaccination and case numbers going down. We’re excited it’s here.”

Traditions will pick up where they left off pre-pandemic, and fans are excited and ready to claim the name “Butchertown’s Loudest.”

Herman Quinn Jr. is the president of The Coopers and said they are the original group of LouCity FC superfans. He said Saturday’s match is going to send a message to opponents for the rest of the season.

“[We’re] Butchertown’s Loudest to let everyone know we’re loud and we’re going to be proud,” Herman said. “It throws them off. They don’t know what to expect. A lot of people think, ‘Oh, it’s Louisville — they’re not really sports fans.’ Well, they’re going to find out.”

Quinn said plans are set for Louisville to show its support for the community and their football club, starting by meeting at a local Butchertown brewery.

“The first march to the match is this coming weekend,” he said. “We’re going to be leaving TEN20 (Craft Brewery) at 6:15 p.m., so if you’re not doing anything, let’s meet. Let’s start the traditions and let’s keep it going like a normal season.”
