LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Fans across the globe love his “Good Eats” and Sunday, April 3, Food Network Chef Alton Brown is coming to Louisville. Brown spoke with WAVE about his upcoming live show at the Kentucky Center and why the city is on his tour once again.
“We’ve got two on here,” Alton Brown smiled, holding up Abigail, one of his two beloved dogs traveling with him while on his national tour. “She’s a rescue,” he said.
The chef, author, musician, and all-around entertainer chatted with us about bringing his live show back to “The Ville” for the third time.
“We’ve always had really good shows in Louisville,” Brown said, “and I don’t know why, but for one thing, it’s a really, really good food town.”
Brown said he loves the Derby City’s Hot Brown and Kentucky bourbon.

“I’ve been to a lot of the distilleries there, quite a few and as a matter of fact,” he laughed, “a few years ago for my show, Good Eats, we shot at Maker’s Mark.”
His live show, Alton Brown: Beyond the Eats, promises to be two plus hours of fun at The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.
“The word that comes to mind is Shenanigans, yeah culinary Shenanigans,” Brown explained in a video promotion for the show.
“All of my live shows are what I like to call a culinary variety show,” Brown said. “They’re based on the structure of the great old variety TV shows of the 70′s, like Sonny and Cher and shows like that always combined comedy, music and other things that’s what our shows are about.”
Included are food science projects, of sorts, with some interesting machinery.

“I promise, no one will be injured,” he joked, “and no one has been injured,”
Brown said volunteers should be prepared to be brave.
“Don’t volunteer unless you really want to be up there and you’re really willing to do... whatever I say.”
Fans coming to Brown’s shows love getting food questions answered. We posed this one: Is there a dish you would recommend for beginners to master?
“That is a very good question,” Brown answered, “I wouldn’t say a dish, but I would say there’s a particular food group and that’s eggs.”
Brown went on to explain, “Eggs are cheap, eggs are incredibly versatile and they’re incredible nutritious and they come in pre-measured containers. So, conquering eggs whether your scrambling, cooking over easy, making an omelet, a quiche, the first year of culinary school in my mind is eggs.”
Timing for the tour couldn’t be better as Brown’s new cookbook, Good Eats: The Final Years, also comes out in April. You can find tickets for Alton Brown Live: Beyond the Eats by clicking here.
