‘Touch a Truck’ event returns to Kentucky Science Center

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (DERBY CITY WEEKEND) - Families will have a chance to check out and get hands on with multiple big vehicles as “Touch a Truck” returns to the Kentucky Science Center.

The event takes place on June 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where kids and families will be able to see a variety of trucks and equipment up close and personal, according to a release from the Science Center.

Everything from trucks, heavy machinery, buses and more will be on display courtesy of community partners such as the Louisville Metro Police Department, Louisville Fire Department, Louisville Water Company, UPS and more.

Guests will also have a chance to meet the community workers who drive those vehicles each and every day.

“Encouraging children’s natural curiosity inspires them to Do Science every day and everywhere” Kentucky Science Center Chief Executive Officer Mike Norman said in a release. “Events like Touch a Truck allow kids to explore the real world in new ways by interacting with familiar vehicles and asking questions of their operators.  By stimulating creativity and imagination, we hope to plant the seeds for a lifetime of learning.”

The “Touch a Truck” event is free with admission to the Kentucky Science Center, and is organized in collaboration with My Big Little Adventure, a collaborative organization teaching young children through everyday experiences.

New and existing members of My Big Little Adventure will receive free admission to the Kentucky Science Center on the day of the event, the release states. For more information, visit My Big Little Adventure’s website.
