LOUISVILLE, Ky. (DERBY CITY WEEKEND) - The Louisville Zoo is welcoming Santa early this year for a brand-new holiday-themed event.
Santa’s Summer Safari kicks off this July at the Louisville Zoo, starting as part of the the zoo’s Cinema Safari series.
The zoo said it will be showing holiday-themed movies on Friday evenings in partnership with Great Clips. On July 15, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” will be shown, and “Elf” will be shown on July 29.
Movie nights are free for Zoo members and $5 for admission after 5 p.m. for non-members, according to the zoo. The field opens at 8 p.m. and movies begin at dusk.
Santa’s Summer Safari weekend event will take place on July 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will feature live ice sculpture demonstrations by Kentucky sculptor Matt Stoddart, as well as special holiday-themed games and activities.
Visitors will also get a chance to meet Santa before he heads back to the North Pole!
The Louisville Zoo is open year-round, with current hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until September 18. The zoo is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
