LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The inaugural “Battle of the Badges” boxing event, pitting Louisville Metro Police officers against Louisville Fire officials, has been canceled.

The Louisville Sports Commission said the event, originally scheduled for Sept. 3 at the Iroquois Amphitheater, was canceled due to “a lack of clarity among boxing governing bodies regarding event oversight.

The event was set to benefit Crusade for Children with proceeds from ticket sales.

“Circumstances that we only recently identified resulted in the cancellation of this event,” Louisville Metro Police Activities League Director Rick Polin said. “It was a difficult decision to make, as police officers and firefighters were looking forward to competing, while also supporting the Crusade for Children and local youth sports programming.”

Anyone who purchased a ticket will receive an email through Ticketmaster on how to obtain a full refund.
