Louisville Zoo’s Wild Lights event returns with new lanterns

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (DERBY CITY WEEKEND) - One of the largest lantern festivals in the nation returns to the Louisville Zoo in March.

Wild Lights: Around the World will run from March 10 through May 21, according to the Louisville Zoo.

The event returns to the zoo with an almost entirely new lineup of lanterns that will be inspired by unique world landmarks, flora and fauna.

Lanterns will light up the 1.4 mile excursion, featuring over 50,000 LED lightbulbs, 18 interactive displays, eight animated lanterns and 10 light-changing pieces, the zoo said.

Wild Lights also features live cultural performances including Chinese folk dances, acrobatics and more.

The event is open from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday nights, and will be open nightly from March 30 to April 9.
