Tickets on sale for 2024 Kentucky Derby Week, Spring Meet This year’s spring meet celebrates 150 years at the historic Churchill Downs racetrack over nine weeks beginning April 27 through June 30.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Tickets are on sale for Kentucky Derby Week and the entire 43-day Spring Meet at Churchill Downs.

Below is a rundown of events to look forward to for the Kentucky Derby Week:

  • Opening Night: Derby Through the Decades (Saturday, April 27) – This year’s opening night just got bigger as the post position draws for the 150th Kentucky Oaks and Derby have been moved to this date. The drawing will be staged between races and is open to the public.
  • Dawn at the Downs Dining (Sunday, April 28 and Monday, April 29) – Been around for decades, guests have the opportunity to come to Churchill Downs and watch the Thoroughbreds train with the option of having a buffet breakfast in the Stakes Room or Millionaires Row. Gates open at 7 a.m. The exclusive training window for Derby (yellow saddle towels) and Oaks (pink saddle towels) participants is from 7:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.
  • 502′sDay Celebrating 150 Years of Louisville Businesses (Tuesday, April 30) – This will be the 502′sDay second return, spotlighting the local community. The event was created as a nod to Louisville’s area code and Tuesday of Derby Week. In honor of the 150th celebration, 502′sDay will recognize the contributions of Louisville businesses. General admission is $5.
  • Champions Day: Celebrating Kentucky’s Champions (Wednesday, May 1) – Churchill Downs says this year’s Champions Day will shine the spotlight on the rich history of the Kentucky Derby and Thoroughbred racing and will pay tribute to the Kentucky champions who have excelled across a diverse spectrum of sports. Select premium dining tickets on Champions Day and Thurby are all-inclusive of food and drinks, according to the release.
  • Thurby presented by Old Forester (Thursday, May 2) – This will be the 11th edition of Thurby, where guests can celebrate Kentucky’s finest by listening to Bluegrass music in the Paddock Plaza, watching horse racing, and having select options of bourbon.
  • Taste of Derby (Thursday, May 2) – The annual Taste of Derby culinary experience features an evening of cuisine and wines paired and created by nationally renowned chefs. The event runs from 7-10 p.m.

  • Father’s Day (Sunday, June 16)
  • Stephen Foster Day (Saturday, June 29)
