LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - If you are looking for ways to help someone this Independence Day, the American Red Cross is hosting an event as part of their Holiday Heroes series.
Starting Tuesday, July 2, people can go to the 5th annual Stars and Stripes blood drive. The American Red Cross declared in January a national emergency because the blood supply levels were so low. One donation can save three lives which is why they want people to become donors of all blood types to make appointments.
There are spots available Tuesday until 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the UAW Local 862 Union Hall, 3000 Fern Valley Road.
To encourage blood donations, the Red Cross is offering the following to all presenting donors:
- Chicken dinner, courtesy of Broaster
- One free ticket to participating U.S. Cedar Fair parks, including Kings Island, while supplies last
- An exclusive Red Cross umbrella, while supplies last
- Entered into a drawing to win a Big Green Egg grill, thanks to Brownsboro Hardware & Paint, one winner each day! *
- All who come to give blood or platelets July 1-31 will get a Fandango Movie Ticket* by email, which can be used to see the movie TWISTERS.
- BONUS: Those who come to give blood in July will also automatically be entered for a chance to win a 2025 Ram 1500 Big Horn®. See RedCrossBlood.org/Twisters for full details.
