LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The 2025 Zoeller Pump Company Pegasus Parade returned to Broadway in Downtown Louisville on Sunday, April 27 at 3 p.m. celebrating its 70th march.
This year’s theme is “Happy Derby: Pink Out Party!” The theme celebrates spring and is also one of the Festival’s favorite colors. KDF encourages participants and spectators to come decked out in pink. The parade kicked off at 3 p.m., marching west on Broadway for 17 blocks, lasting approximately two hours.
“As we mark the 70th year for the Kentucky Derby Festival’s founding event, we invite participants and spectators alike to get in the spirit of the season and help us paint Broadway pink!” said Matt Gibson, Kentucky Derby Festival President & CEO. “From marching bands and dance teams to equestrians and floats, the units are what make the parade such a unique and special tradition that brings the community together every spring.”
Originating in 1956, the Pegasus Parade is the Kentucky Derby Festival’s oldest event. Today, the Pegasus Parade is one of the largest in the country, contributing an estimated impact of more than $22 million to the local economy.
