A southern Indiana favorite with Jeffersontown roots has opened its first location south of the river.
Adrienne & Company now has a bakery in Old Louisville. It’s on Fourth Street, just south of Oak.
“We plan on being here for a really long time,” Holland said.
Known for elaborate cakes, donuts, scones and oversized muffins, the location had a soft opening about three months ago. Thursday’s grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony was the official opening…and let customers know the bakery is ready for the Christmas sugar rush.
Inside the shop, soft lighting falls on glass cases filled with pastries, cookies and cakes. A large display case to the side offers dozens of donuts of different varieties, all made from scratch.
Thursday, the line for baked goods stretched to the back of the store.
For the owner, a New York transplant, the location brings her full circle. Adrienne Holland got her start in Old Louisville years ago at Ermin’s Bakery, learning the business from the ground up.
“When we first moved here over 20 years ago my brother and I were roommates on First Street and we took jobs as counterworkers at Ermin’s bakery. Very quickly we were promoted to managers,” Holland said. “Baking is in our blood.”
This is Adrienne & Co.’s fourth location–the first in Louisville–since opening in downtown Jeffersonville in 2001.
“We’re excited to be able to offer a location in Louisville now,” Holland said.
The Old Louisville location plans to offer the bakery’s popular cakes for pick-up in the future.
Adreinne & Company’s other locations are in New Albany and a donut shop in Floyd Knobs.
