Kentucky Performing Arts will host a special St. Patrick’s Day celebration with the help of Goitse on Sunday, March 15, 2020.
The fun begins a 5 PM as The Kentucky Center Main Lobby and SCENE restaurant is turned into an Irish pub. From 5 PM until 6:30 PM, attendees can enjoy free beer tastings, featuring local & regional vendors including Braxton, Rhinegeist, and Terrapin. The SCENE’s menu will feature
Beef & Guinness Pie, Fish & Chips and house-cured Corned Beef and Cabbage and other Irish specialties. Reservations are not required but are recommended. Entertainment will feature the McClanahan School of Irish Dance, and Louisville Folks School instructors Tom Cunningham playing fiddle tunes and Lance Minnis and students playing traditional Irish pub songs. Beer tastings are only available to paid ticket holders of the Goitse concert that are 21-years-old or older.
The award-winning Irish Quintet Goitse will perform at 7 PM in the Bomhard Theater. The group was named Live Ireland’s “Traditional Group of the Year” and Chicago Irish American News’ “Group of the Year.” Goitse has released five critically acclaimed recordings and maintains a year-round touring schedule that includes performances throughout Ireland and the UK, Germany, France, and the United States.
Tickets for the show start at $25.
After the show, bring your instrument and join in some musical fun at the SCENE Restaurant from 9:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Play along as Louisville Folk School’s Tom Cunningham leads a post-show jam session featuring traditional Irish and Appalachian folk tunes. Can’t play an instrument? Stop by and enjoy the fun anyway.
