Local philanthropist Christy Brown is helping spread a little sunshine in Paristown Pointe.
Christy’s Garden is now open, next to Old Forester’s Paristown Hall, on Brent Street, off Broadway. It’s an oasis among the hustle and bustle in the area that can be used for concerts, outdoor movies, exercise classes.
Paristown is sentimental for Christy Brown, who worked in an office there for nearly 15 years.
“It takes each of us – each and every one of us – to become part of the solutions for improving, making our neighborhoods healthier,” Brown said. “So the fact that I and my family had been working in this hood to try and grow Louisville stoneware for almost 15 years basically inspired me to leave the imprint of the name Christy because I want us all to realize that we are the solution all of us to becomes – it’s our job.”
Members of the Louisville orchestra played at the grand opening.
A gift from the Owsley Brown Family Foundation made the garden possible.
