When Kentucky state law changed last year, allowing distilleries to sell alcohol by the drink, Copper & Kings owner Joe Heron knew exactly what he wanted to do with the distillery's top floor space.
The third floor of the Butchertown location is now home to ALEX&NDER, a brandy and gin bar with a rooftop patio and a great view. You can enjoy the downtown skyline for now, but the highlight will soon be the new Louisville FC soccer stadium that's planned for the adjacent property. It will be the perfect backdrop for the floor-to-ceiling windows in the lounge area, which features a full wall mural by OftenSeenRarelySpoken Art Collective.
The cocktails are classic - Sazerac, Old Fashioned, Gin Gin Mule, Spanish-style Gin Tonic - and very good! Bartenders Eron Plevan and Micheal Padgett take great care in mixing and presenting each drink.
Four beers are served at ALEX&NDER, from Against the Grain, Monnik, Sun King (Indianapolis) and Modelo.
You can also share a jug of Sangria with friends; their three versions include white wine, red wine and IPA beer.
ALEX&NDER opens to the public Thursday, June 7. Regular hours are 5 p.m. - Midnight, Wednesday - Sunday.
