Four Roses has claimed the top bourbon honor at this year’s World Whiskies Awards.
The company released its 130th Anniversary Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon last September.
Bourbon experts from around the world gathered in January to to judge the Whisky Magazine Awards in New York.
The 130th Anniversary Limited Edition Small Batch was chosen as Best Kentucky Bourbon, then went on to be named the World’s Best Bourbon.
Four of Four Roses’ 10 unique Bourbon recipes were included in the 130th Anniversary Limited Edition Small Batch, including a 10-year-old Bourbon from the OBSV recipe, a 13-year-old OBSF, 14-year-old OESV and 16-year-old OESK.
“From the beginning of the process for this Limited Edition, I focused on building around the unique fruit flavors in our F and V yeast strains, and these flavors shine through in the finished product,” Four Roses Master Distiller Brent Elliot said. “As a contrast, I also included a spicy, older batch. By mingling these different flavor profiles, I think we achieved a wonderfully balanced, complex and unique Bourbon.”
