Fresh Thyme, the popular east-side grocer specializing in fresh produce and organic foods, will close its lone Louisville location soon.
The store at 4301 Shelbyville Road in St. Matthews, which opened in 2016, will close on Aug. 24.
“We regret the inconvenience this will cause our customers and team members, and we are currently working with our affected team members to identify opportunities at other Fresh Thyme stores,” a company spokeswoman said in a statement to WAVE 3 News. “Severance (packages) will be available to team members who are not interested in accepting a position at a different Fresh Thyme store.”
The chain operates nearly 50 stores, mostly in midwest states. Fresh Thyme is headquartered in the Chicago suburbs.
“Fresh Thyme will be closing our Louisville (store) on August 24,” President and CEO Chris Sherrell said in the company’s statement. “Like any organization experiencing rapid growth and expansion, sometimes we need to optimize our approach and make changes if something isn’t working. We are continuing to refine our real estate strategy, but sometimes certain stores are simply not as successful as others.”
