Halloween on Hillcrest a no-go this year — but not because of COVID

Another Louisville Halloween tradition is scrapped for a second year in a row — Trick-or-Treating on Hillcrest Avenue.

Halloween on Hillcrest and the weeks leading up to Halloween often draw thousands of people eager to check out the over-the-top, creepy decorations.

The trick or treating event was canceled last year because of COVID, but it will not happen this year because of a construction project by the Louisville Water Company. Hillcrest is closed to traffic from Frankfort Avenue and won’t reopen before Halloween.

It’s up to individual homeowners to decide whether they want to decorate and hand out candy.
