Fans of Hillcrest Avenue’s Halloween lawn displays are in for a bit of sad news.
In an effort to prevent spread of COVID-19, the neighborhood decided against decorating Hillcrest Avenue this year.
Hillcrest Avenue’s Facebook page talked off and on before the decision was made, saying the big yard displays promote large foot traffic. With narrow sidewalks, the neighborhood said there would not be a way to safely socially distance for visitors.
The neighborhood said that displaying other decorations and giving candy out to trick-or-treaters will be at the discretion of homeowners.
While this year will look a little less spooky, the group looks forward to a big return for next year.
