Kentucky Kingdom showed off the park’s latest roller coaster and it’s sure to get your adrenaline pumping.
The Kentucky Flyer doesn’t officially open to the public until this weekend, but we got a sneak peek. It’s both family friendly and thrilling.
The ride’s been named one of the most anticipated coasters of 2019 by a few publications, and it’s the first new coaster for the park since Storm Chaser in 2016.
“We could not be more excited to unveil our sixth roller coaster the Kentucky Flyer, which is engineered for thrill-seeking families,” Jessie O’Daniel, with Kentucky Kingdom, said.
Riders will experience turbulence during 12 airtime moments, elevation up to 47 feet tall, and velocity with speeds up to 35 miles per hour.
“We’ve got these wonderful Timberliner trains that have these unique restraints that no one else has,” O’Daniel said.
Over 1,200 feet of track with 54-degree banked turns add up to over 30 seconds of tummy-turning fun.
The ride is a high tech take on your classic wooden coaster. Its wheels hug the curves, so there’s no headache from rattling around.
“At 40 inches you can ride with a parent or supervised companion,” Adam Birkner, with Kentucky Kingdom, said. “(It) can be a lot of people’s first roller coaster.”
Kentucky Flyer opens to the public Sunday.
