The Kentucky Opera is preparing for its upcoming season with a bold, new initiative meant to explore the meaning and expressions of faith, justice, and family through Opera.
The “Amplify Your Voice” season is designed to engage with audiences through crowdsourced material, interviews, and more. Kentucky Opera is retaining its artists and apprentices to produce and perform this original, online artistic content, and live in-person performances.
“This season, Kentucky Opera will stay true to our responsibility of telling and elevating stories — our stories — through music,” Barbara Lynne Jamison, Kentucky Opera’s General Director and CEO, said. “We invite our community to share their voices and perspectives, which we will amplify through story and song. At a time when many people yearn to be heard and understood, we will explore the values we hold dear both individually and collectively. At a time when we long for social connection, we will bring our community together with a shared purpose.”
Newly commissioned songs and a special video series featuring photos and interviews from audiences set to music performed by mainstage artists are just some of the things audiences can anticipate.
The 2020/21 season’s themes include Faith, Justice, and Family.
