More than 46 million people rode the steel coaster since it opened back in April of 1987.

On Sunday, Kings Island shared a tweet of the original Vortex crew taking one of the final rides.

The park announced the closure of the coaster back in September saying that it reached the end of its service life. Many coasters have an average service life of around 25-30 years.

Sunday was also the final day for Kings Island’s fall season. It will reopen on November 22nd for their Winter Fest event.
