Soon Kentuckiana residents will be able to enjoy live music on the Great Lawn once again! A multi-month concert series is scheduled to begin at the Waterfront Park this May.

“Live at the Lawn at Waterfront Park” was created by Danny Wimmer Presents, the independent festival promoter and producer in charge of multiple live music festivals happening in Louisville, including Louder than Life, Bourbon & Beyond, and Hometown Rising.

The newly announced series will consist of 15 upcoming live events scheduled throughout the Spring.

“The arts are the soul of our city. And from all the festivals to our orchestra and to the amazing local performers that we’re known for across the world, music brings us together, soothes us through troubled times and helps us celebrate the good times. So I’m excited about this new concert series on our waterfront,” Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said in a release.

Waterfront Park is also home to WFPK’s Waterfront Wednesday concert series, which was delayed last year due to the COVID pandemic. That event is scheduled to begin later this summer, according to WFPK.

“Live at the Lawn” will implement a limited capacity, socially distanced show complying with COVID guidelines. Plans include pod-style setup with each pod hosting 4 to 6 people. Pods will also be spaced out on the lawn, with several small areas for standing room only.

More information will be released in the coming weeks on individual shows. Details can be found at the Live on the Lawn website.
