Louder than Life Refugees: Other options, discounts for you in Louisville this weekend

With Champions Park defeated by a September rain that was wetter than ever, promoters were forced to cancel Louder than Life.

Whether you’re now a refugee, in town without a festival, or you’re a local looking for other events to replace Louder than Life, here are a few to consider.

First off, catch one of the acts on the lineup elsewhere. Electronic metalcore group Asking Alexandria was set to be in Louisville. They’re from London (the capitol of the British Empire not the Eastern Kentucky city) so they’re kind of stuck here.

They’ll swing down from a Saturday night show in Detroit to play a one-dollar show at Diamond’s Pub Concert Hall on Barret Ave on Sunday, before trekking west to South Dakota and Montana. You pay the dollar at the door.

If you were hoping to catch one of the headliners, it’s not going to happen for Alice in Chains unless you head to Mexico City or way out west.

However, you can catch Godsmack on Sunday night at the Peoria Civic Center in Illinois. It’s a five-hour drive and tickets start at $36 plus fees.

Nine Inch Nails is at the Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville on Saturday night. It’s sold out, but you can find tickets for around $60 plus fees as of Thursday afternoon on sites like Vivid Seats or StubHub, to catch Trent Reznor & Co. crank out what will likely be a longer set than typical festival fare in a venue that fits about a fourth of the Louder than Life daily crowd.

Other places in Louisville are offering Louder than Life discounts. The Bourbon Hall downtown is offering half-price tickets to see 1970s rockers Blue Oyster Cult. The BOGO offer means you’ll shell our around $25 per person rather than $50.

The Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau is offering discount bundle options for various museums and distilleries around town.

And the Slugger Museum is offering free admission with proof of a Louder than Life ticket purchase and an ID. There, you can hold bats signed by Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Roger Daltrey, KISS, Queens of the Stone Age, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, 311 and Poison. You also get a free Louisville Slugger mini bat. Perfect for next year’s Louder than Life mosh pit!
