Galentine’s Day is an unofficial holiday that’s quickly gained traction in popular culture.
Never heard of it? It’s the day before Valentine’s Day, when ladies celebrate their best girl friends.
Galentine’s day comes from a 2010 episode of the NBC comedy “Parks and Recreation.” Since then, it’s blown up into a nationwide yearly celebration for gal pals everywhere.
“There’s nothing better than to do that over bubbles!” quipped one Louisville woman out on the town.
Even here in Louisville, it’s all about bubbles and BFFs. The Champagnery, on Frankfort Avenue, was just one of the hangout spots holding a “girls only” event.
“It’s a celebration of friendship, support, being there for each other, laughing and not caring about all the struggles, but just enjoying each other’s friendship,” Dawn Pajo said as she was leaving the Champagnery with her friends.
Before social media timelines clog up with lovey-dovey Valentine’s Day brags, ladies take the time to snap a few pictures with their besties on Galentine’s Day.
“If you think about this time of year, it’s all about celebrating love,” Jennifer Blair said. “It’s not just about romantic love, but it’s about the people that we love each and every day and that support what we’re up to.”
The Champagnery had a Chandonut special which included a mini bottle of Chandon Rosé or Sweet Star paired with a HiFive Donut. They made sure to provide the sweetly sophisticated night, solely dedicated to ladies uplifting ladies.
