New bar focused on beer opens in NuLu

A new place to grab a pint this summer opened Wednesday in NuLu.

iTAP, or International Tap House, opened on East Main Street inside the Main and Clay apartment building.

The location is new to Louisville, but builds off the popular one in St Louis.

The Missouri-based company wanted to be a part of what’s happening in Louisville.

“It’s in an up and coming neighborhood,” Nick Kobel, iTAP District Manager, said. “It’s going from the more commercial to more residential, more shopping, more restaurants. Just wanted to get in early and be a part of it.”

Though the brand has several locations, the Louisville one is tailored toward this community.

“As we’ve kind of grown, as we’ve kind of matured as a business we’ve been offering things, we have wine, we offer can cocktails,” Jon Whitaker, iTAP Beer program director, said. “Here in this Louisville location, we’re going to be doing four different draft cocktails as well and obviously when you’re in Kentucky you have to up your bourbon game.”

There are about 250 varieties of beer in bottles and cans, and the tap holds 45 rotating selections.

They don’t serve food but are working to partner with restaurants and food trucks to have options for customers.
