It’s a Christmas miracle for cocktail lovers. For the second year in a row, New York-based Miracle Bar is popping up in NuLu.
The Christmas-themed pop-up bar, which is located in the Green Building on Market Street, features clever cocktails and lots of festive decor. This year, they’re also expanding into GalaxieBar to spread intergalactic holiday cheer.
On the drinks menu this year: New creations like the Gingerbread Flip, a drink crafted from bourbon, gingerbread syrup, elemakule tiki bitters, egg and gingersnap cookie crumbs, and old favorites like Run Run Rudolph, a blend of gin, mulled wine puree, lemon, cane syrup and Prosecco.
The halls of the Green Building are decked out in lights, garlands, ribbons and other Christmas-y decorations for the occasion. (We’re hoping the giant inflatable Santa reappears from last year.)
Once you step into Galaxie, the theme transforms to an “atomic age Christmas” with mid-century and Space Age decorations.
“The drinks are excellent. The atmosphere is festive. We’ve got Christmas karaoke, we have Christmas movies playing. If you want to get in the holiday spirit, you’ll certainly find it here,” Head Elf Doug Petry said.
There’s holiday glassware available for sale, too. Ten percent of the proceeds go to the Kentucky Refugee Ministries.
Miracle Bar began five years ago in Manhattan’s East Village, the creation of Greg Boehm. As its popularity spread, people began to re-create the bar in different cities. In 2018, Miracle Bar pop-ups will appear in over 90 locations for the holidays.
The bar is open from 5 p.m. to midnight Tuesday through Thursday and 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, now through Christmas Eve.
The address is 732 E. Market Street.
