A vegan restaurant on Baxter Avenue is closing its doors.

Morels Cafe opened in 2017. The owner, Stanley Chase, posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page, saying in part:

” At the time when we opened, there weren’t a lot of vegan options available in Louisville, and my other company, Louisville Vegan Jerky Co. was relatively small. Since we opened over two years ago, the vegan options in Louisville have grown significantly as well as the jerky company. As many of you know, the jerky went Whole Foods National last July. Since the unpredicted and continued growth of LVJCO, the business as a whole is needing me more now than ever.”

Chase says he is keeping the property at 619 Baxter Avenue for possible future endeavors and is partnering with Logan Street Market to sell products as well.

Morels Cafe will close on August 18.
