A bakery that helps give victims of human trafficking a new life has opened another location.
Scarlet’s Bakery celebrated its grand opening in St. Matthews on Friday.
The new shop is located on Fairfax Avenue, right across from Trinity High School.
Scarlet’s has an 18-month program that provides job training and other resources to women in need.
“To see about 150 (people) show up to support this just warms my heart,” founder and executive director Rachelle Star said. “It’s just so exciting that three years into this, we’re getting that much more support and I’m so thankful for that.”
In the past three years, Scarlet’s Bakery has helped 25 women and 10 more jobs were created at the new location.
Her first location is in Shelby Park.
