There’s one more sign that things are getting back to normal: the annual St. Joe’s Picnic for the Kids will be back in person this year!
As the 172nd annual event benefitting the St. Joseph Children’s Home in Louisville, it will be a little bit different this year. The event will feature live music by local bands, Rear View Mirror and LittleBand, as well as raffles, food and drinks over two nights, starting on Friday, Aug. 13, and continuing on Saturday, Aug. 14. The bands will play from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on both nights.
There is a $10 cost for tickets, and they are available now. Fewer than 1,000 tickets will be sold each night of the event, which will include fewer vendors and a shorter time frame for live music than in past years.
For $500, a group of six can sponsor a table and enjoy the event from the VIP section on the St. Joe’s lawn.
“We’re bringing back some of our fan favorites,” St. Joseph’s Children’s Home Communication Manager Sydney Sparks said. “We will have a quilt booth and a cake booth. We’ll have raffle tickets available, so that will still be the same. And of course, we’ll have food, beer, and drinks there but a lot small of course. As we are in this ever-changing time just wanting to make sure everyone stays safe.”
One of the largest St. Joseph Children’s Home fundraisers, the picnic allows the organization to help more than 1,500 children and their families every year.
“While this year’s event looks different from the traditional Picnic event in years past, St. Joe’s is excited to welcome members of the community back to campus for this unique experience,” St. Joe’s CEO Grace Akers said in a statement.
Those who are unable to attend can still donate by texting ‘STJOESPICNICFORTHEKIDS’ to 243725. The festival will also feature a drive-through picnic option on that Saturday to quickly drop off donations or purchase raffle tickets.
A virtual trivia night ahead of the event will be held on June 10th.
