The 10th annual Taste of South Louisville is this month.
On August 17, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Churchill Downs still be home to more than 25 local restaurants.
The event is meant to highlight South Louisville’s diverse food, while raising money to prevent eviction, utility loss and hunger for families in crisis.
More than 25 local restaurants will be serving food and drinks at the event. Some of the participating vendors are Vietnam Kitchen, The Seafood Lady, Shack in the Back BBQ, Caribbean Cafe, Jerusalem Kitchen, and Rubbies Southside Bar & Grill.
All proceeds from the event will go to South Louisville Community Ministries to help provide emergency assistance to low-income neighbors in crisis.
“South Louisville is facing the second highest poverty rate in the city, but with every ticket purchased, we can help another family reach stability,” Clare Rutz Wallace, Executive Director of South Louisville Community Ministries, said in a press release. “We do a lot with a little, and your donation could mean the world for a family in crisis. It could change someone’s entire trajectory and help them find stability instead of spiraling into catastrophe. Instead, a family stays in their home instead of being evicted. A neighbor no longer has to choose between insulin and keeping the lights on. A child doesn’t go to bed hungry.”
Tickets are $50 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Tickets can be purchased online here or by calling SLCM at (502) 361-7763.
